In this blog I will share with you 5 principles to live by.

Week 2

I will share one principle every two weeks. This will give your the time to work with this principle and intergrade the practice into your life. Then I will introduce the next principle to add to your intergradation.


Change your life - Steps to live by:


PRINCIPLE NUMBER TWO:

DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY


What does this mean? I am sure there are many perceptions of the meaning of this principle. Here is my perspective at this time.


To not take anything personally we need to stop being the victims.

This is not said to hurt YOU or to put YOU down. If this is the case, do not give that knee jerk reaction. Do not "feed" their fury. Calmly ask, "Was this meant to hurt me? Embarrass me? Or just ask them to repeat that, please." This is not the reaction they were needing. You have just defused the whole conversation.

We are all mirrors for the person we are speaking with and they are mirrors for us! These comments are said because on some level the person (or ourselves) "sees" these traits in themselves (ourselves) and do not like that part of themselves. (ourselves!)

Remain calm and just observe DO NOT ENGAGE, just witness for that person. When you engage it only hurts you, your feelings and your mood! Once the discussion is finished that person goes on about their life unaffected. You feel horrible, pissed, confused, guilty ... you get the picture.


This seems may seem like a piece of cake or the hardest thing you have to do. Work with this principle for the next two weeks, Incorporating it with principle number one. (see previous post)

You may want to sit with the words and see what does this mean to you? How often do I NOT live by this principle? Don't take anything personally.


Pay attention to your reactions, notice where you are taking it personally. This is the first step in changing your habit, your belief, your knee jerk reaction is acknowledging "Yes I do this. "

First recognizing it, then to make a conscious effort to change it. These Habits, knee jerk reactions, arguments are running your life by default. Take back your life, become your own author. Write your own story.


The life you live is why you came, live by default or by choice. It is up to you.
